Keep Running the Race

Run The Race of Faith

Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.

The Christian life is a journey, it’s a race to the finish, the finish line being heaven. We can only keep running if we don’t let anything holding us back.

Don’t let anything hinder your progress, not your hobbies, your job, Uni or relationships.

Sin entangles us, it stops us from moving ahead in the race. We need to deal with sin and not make excuses or let it go unchecked.

Do whatever it takes to put sin to death so that it does not cause you to stumble. We all need God’s help to defeat sin and it is a battle Jesus has already won on the cross.

There is no way we can make it to Heaven without Jesus. As we discussed last week, the only way to eternal life is through Jesus, The Way, The Truth and The Life. Everyday, we must fix our eyes on Jesus, who is the pioneer and the perfecter of our faith.

I really love this part of the passage. Jesus is the pioneer of our faith, He is the trail blazer. He has gone before us and He was one of us when He lived amongst us on earth.

He is also the perfecter of our faith. He continues to refine and shape us each day, so we become more like Him each day, through work of the Holy Spirit. We are like diamonds, continuing to be polished until they are smooth.

We need to run the race with perseverance, not letting anything slow us down or distract us. We need to keep going until we reach the finish line and to do that we need to lift our eyes and fix them on Jesus.

Never lose sight of the Saviour and the amazing news of the Gospel.

God Bless,

The Faith Filled Friends

  1. Keep pressing on towards the final goal.

Philippians 3:14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
