Celebration Day 4: Favourite Praise And Worship Songs

Favourite Praise and Worship Songs

Hey guys and welcome to The Faith Filled Friends birthday celebration! Each evening we will be posting a special birthday post, like this one. Tonight we have the privilege to discuss some of the greatest praise and worship songs of all times! We have listed our top favourites from both Praise and from Worship. It was so hard and we missed out on so many, we will definitely mention the ones on our list that didn’t make the final cut. Also, there is a particular order, that is the order I put them in (it is to make sure there is a good spread of diversity. If it is number one or number 10, it doesn’t mean it is better than another). Let’s dive into it!

Top Ten Praise Songs

1. God’s Not Dead- Newsboys

Who could possible skip by the Newsboys smash hit! This is a fantastic song that declares that our God is not dead but He reigns. A great song that is definitely helped by the movies by the same name.

2. Alive- Young & Free

Young & Free are still new to the Jesus party, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t produced some fantastic songs! “Alive” has great lyrics and is perfect for youth groups and iPod’s.

3. Happy Day- Tim Hughes

What a classic. Who hasn’t heard Tim Hughes, “Happy Day”? It is an amazing song that is about Jesus’ resurrection and our salvation. Perfect for Easter and perfect for praising our saviour.

4. Lion and The Lamb- Big Daddy Weave

Not often do I find a cover better than the original, but with “Lion and The Lamb” Big Daddy Weave hit it out of the park. With great lyrics, good music and an awesome guitar riff, what more could you want when praising our God?

5. Let It Be Known- Lincoln Brewster

Another fantastic cover of a fantastic song. This was sung thousands of times in probably every youth group, but let me tell you, I still loving hearing it. Lincoln Brewster has a was with awesome praise songs and great guitar solos. “Let It Be Known” is definitely one of the best!

6. Forever Reign- One Sonic Society

This is another great song that I have been singing for years. God really moves in this song as we declare that, “the riches of your love, will always be enough.” Beautiful.

7. Real Love- Young & Free

Young & Free come smashing in again with a second song on our list. “Real Love” is a fun song, full of energy that is about God’s true and only love. His love is all we need and He is all we want. It is a load of fun.

8. Your Love Awakens Me- Phil Wickham

Phil Wickham has produced some classics but “Your Love Awakens Me” from his most recent album is one of the best praise songs. “God’s love is greater, God’s love is stronger.”

9. Live To Praise You- Lincoln Brewster

What is not to like about this entry. With praise in the title you know it has to be one of the greatest praise songs… And it is. With amazing lyrics, upbeat music, a great guitar solo and the lyrics, “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” It is definitely worthy of this list.

10. This Is Amazing Grace- Phil Wickham

There have been a few covers of this great song but none compare to the original. The lyrics to this amazing song are honest and beautiful. It is the definition of a praise song as we declare, “Jesus I sing for, all that you’ve done for me!” I wish we sung this at church.

Bonus 11. Wonder- Hillsong United

Coming out of United’s most recent album, the title track, “Wonder” hits hard. It’s fresh, it’s fun, and it speaks a beautiful truth about our God and the world. It is definitely worthy of this list.

And The Faith Filled Friends top praise song goes to…

    • That is twenty five songs that we had on our lists but never made it. All these songs are fantastic and deserve a listen, but we just squeezed 51 songs down to 26 and then had to pick a favourite. It was hard, but it was fun!
There are still plenty of songs that we are forgetting that would definitely make the list. So if your favourite is not hear, we probably missed it… So sorry! 😉
