Hey guys and welcome back to The Faith Filled Friends. We are so glad to have you with us for another devotion. It’s been a busy time of the year for all of us here but we finally have some breathing space. In my devotion time I got this message that I would love to share with you tonight. Let’s dive into it!
Busted Heart (Hold Onto Me)- for King & Country
‘…Broke Your heart a thousand times
But You’ve never left my side
You have always been here
You never let me go…’
How many times have you failed? I can’t even count how many times I failed at sport, games and school work (yep, all that homework)! But how many more times have I failed God? How many times have I turned my back on Him? If I had to keep track, I would never be able to count that high.
The good news is, God isn’t keeping track either. He doesn’t count our mistakes, short comings and failures. When we turn to Him all our darkness is turned to glorious light as we are forgiven by the creator of the universe.
1 John 1:5-10
“This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.”
It can be so hard to come before God in all our mess, but that is what He calls us to do. Not to try sort it out or balance things up by doing good, but instead, falling at His feet, sinful and broken with a heart in a place of repentance.
In our weakness, He is strong. So fall at His feet and give Him all of your heart.
‘…Hold on to me
Hold on to me
Don’t let me lose my way
Hold on to me…’
If you are like me then you want to be perfect because it feels like you are letting God down when you fail. But the truth is we just need to fall into His arms and trust that He will hold us through the storms that life may bring.
God is perfect and His love covers a multitude of sin. Give it to Him, and rest in His arms tonight.
‘…You never let me go…’
