I Know You Hold the Future

Hey everyone, thanks for joining us this Tuesday evening. We always appreciate your support and it is a privilege to have the opportunity to share God’s word with you. Tonight, we’ll be looking at the future and what that means when we have God by our side, as well as a fantastic song from Jordan Feliz’s new album.

Let’s get to it!

You go before me, You make it clear
You give me hope and
A future, a future
So why live in worry, why live in fear
When I know You’re holding
The future, the future
(Oh-oh-ooh) the future, the future
(I know You hold) the future, the future

All of us think about the future and what it holds for us. Who will I marry? What house will I buy? What job will I get? The future is full of questions and uncertainties because we don’t know what lies ahead until we get there.

Uncertainty, fear and anxiety is what follows when we go into the future alone. As Christians, we don’t face the future alone. Our loving God will be right beside us, no matter what will come. He is the one who gives us a hope and a future. Our lives are in His hands, every second, every minute, every hour and every day. Our futures are all moulded by Him and He is in control of it all.

With this assurance of God being in the driver’s seat, we can go into the future with confidence, knowing He has gone before. There is no need for worry or fear when we go into the future, knowing God is by our side.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

In everything, we must trust God with our whole heart and submit to Him in all we do. When we do this, He will make our ways clear.

When we trust God with our future and submit our plans, hopes and desires to Him, God makes our path clear. We need God to shape the way ahead if we are to live for Him and give Him the glory.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

As the Gospel reminds us, we have the greatest future awaiting us in eternity. Jesus came to earth and died for our sins. He paid the punishment for our rebellion against Him. For all who trust in Him as Lord and Saviour, He gives the gift of eternal life. There is no earthy future that could ever contend with the future of eternity with God.

In the meantime, before we get to our ultimate future, we must trust God with our earthly futures. There is nothing wrong with having hopes, dreams, plans and desires, but there is something wrong with not trusting God with them.

When we put our futures into God’s hands, the fear and worry disappear because the Lord of all creation is in control of all that is ahead. Nothing that happens is by chance, it is all in accordance with His incredible plan for our lives.

Let’s be encouraged by our God who holds each of our futures. Whatever comes, He will be there with us. It all comes back to trusting God with what is ahead because after all, He is God. The same God who created the world and each of us and died to save us from our sin. He is the one who writes the future and each of ours.

No matter what comes next, I got nothing to lose
No matter what the future holds, I’m trusting in You
No matter what comes next, I got nothing to lose
No matter what the future holds… I’m trusting in You

Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is  the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

Don’t live in worry or in fear, because God is holding the future!

God Bless,

The Faith Filled Friends
