God’s Ways Are Perfect
Hey guys and welcome back to The Faith Filled Friends. We are so glad, as always, to have you join us today for another devotion. In this devotion we want to discuss what it is like to follow God’s plans for you life and what happens when change comes. We will also be sharing an amazing song by Philippa Hanna. Let’s dive into it!
Perfectly- Philippa Hanna
Do you feel like God is leading you one way only to have a door shut in your face?
I know that I have been there. You are following God but suddenly it seems like you need to go the other way. This is a part of life. Letting go of the past a pressing on to what is ahead.
‘…I’ve never felt this stuck before
I’ve had so many open doors slamming on me lately
Got me going crazy
Wasn’t this Your will for me?
Wasn’t that what I believed?
Maybe I was just mistaken
Or missed what You were saying…’
‘…I have a hard time letting go
But You’re the One who’s in control…’
Letting go is often the hardest thing. I struggle with letting go all the time. In fact, last year I went through a season of letting go. I saw the things I loved, things that I had grown up with disappear. It was so hard for me. But through that season God showed me that my identity is not found in things or even in this world, but in Him.
‘…So I won’t worry when things don’t go my way
And I won’t fear when my plans don’t fall in place
No need for me to second guess
You’re not the God of second best
No, no plan B
I don’t always know what You’re doing
But You’re doing it perfectly, oh…’
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
We often plan out our lives according to what God is leading us to, but that doesn’t mean it is going to be straight forward. Following God is actually harder than not following Him, but we know that His ways are higher and His plans are greater.
You may have felt a calling in your life but God is leading you somewhere else. I want to encourage you to pray about it and seek God’s plans. And for other’s of us, we need to start letting things go. Sin, pain, unforgiveness, possessions, dreams, ideas or things that make your identity. It will be hard to chase God, but it is the best way.
“Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”
‘…It’s not some kind of consolation
Nor the best of a bad situation
In my uncertainty, this will be my peace
Nothing ever takes You by surprise…’
“Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.”
God knows your future, so you and I will never have to worry. Let go of the anxious thoughts and trust Him.
“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
Let’s press on into what God has planned, because He does everything perfectly!
