Linger And Remember

Linger And Remember

Hey guys and welcome back to The Faith Filled Friends. We are so glad that you decided to stop by and read one of our devotions. Today, we really want to focus on the time that we spend with God. We want to encourage all of you to be still and know that God is God. Let’s dive into it!

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭46:10
“He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.””‬

What does your devotion time look like?

Today, we don’t want to make you feel bad but rather encouraged. This morning I was going to have my quiet time with God but I really wasn’t feeling it. I didn’t feel like spending time with God. It doesn’t always come easy.

But when we stop and actually remember who God is we can’t help but stand in awe. I was taken back by His faithfulness and His never ending love.

So I wanted to share this amazing song with you guys. It reminds us to be still and remember who God is.

Be Still- Jeremy Camp

…Be still and know that You are my God
Be still and know that You are enough
Though my heart is racing still You’re in control
Be still and know that You are my God…’

Psalm‬ ‭37:7‬
“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.”

It is sometimes necessary to just stop and be still. To just not worry about reading the bible or trying to do the “normal Christian thing”. God wants to spend time with us, like a father longing for some time with his child. There doesn’t have to be achievements or even talking. Just the embrace is enough.

Sometimes we need to linger in His presence and feel Him move. To wait and be still. When we wait we will see.

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭62:1-2‬
“Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”

We often don’t realise how hectic our mind is until we feel the peace of God fill our heart. We may not think that we need to spend time with God, we may think that our sin disqualifies us or we might think that we aren’t feeling His love or peace and it will be a waste of time. It is not a chore or something you have to do, but when you do it you will realise how much you needed it. You will see who God is once again.

Don’t feel like you need to talk to God. Don’t feel like you have to read your bible. God just wants you. Somedays we just need to stop, be still and know that He is God.

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭62:5-6‬
“Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40:30-31
“Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”‬

Do you have a secret place? A place where you can just rest and spend time with God without interruptions. A secret place for just you and God. Switch your notifications off and get carried away in His love. I believe that is so important to find time to spend with God.

Find the time. Waste the time. Don’t feel like you have to be efficient with your time. Just be still. He is the reason we have life, so there is nothing more important than spending time with Him.

Be still. He will renew you. It’s our response to all that He has give us. Don’t make it about achievement. You will find rest and peace in God’s presence. Find time. Waste time!

God Bless

  1. Such a great message and reminder.

So often we think we HAVE to spend time with God, but just like you said, it’s about wanting to spend time with Him.

I think it’s so important that we remind ourselves of who God is each day; He is our rock, our redeemer and the source of our salvation.

Even just listening to ‘Be Still’ as I was reading the devotion was an opportunity to be in God’s presence.

I couldn’t agree more, the time we spend with God is never wasted time. I mean, what could be a better way to spend our time?
