Surrender//Control: Surrender

Hey guys and welcome back to The Faith Filled Friends. We are so glad to have you join us today for the third part in our series. Today we just want to talk about surrender and what it looks like. Let’s dive into it!

Surrender//Control

Surrender- Dan Bremnes

‘…My eyes are on the Cross
Where You gave it all
I worship You, I worship You
I see the One who saves
The Light of heaven’s grace
I run to You, I run to You…’

Surrender begins when we take our eyes off ourselves and look ahead.

We have talked about surrender many times before and the past two devotions have been about surrender, but today’s devotion will be about what surrender looks like. Surrender in action.

‘…And I, I surrender
I lay my life down at Your feet
God of mercy, You are worthy
I give You every part of me…’

Matthew‬ ‭16:24-25‬
“Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.”

I look at Jesus and His disciples. The way the moved and touched people’s lives, sharing the good news. I would love to be a disciple of Jesus, living with Him and showing His love. But the disciples didn’t just tag along with Jesus, they gave up everything. They had to lay down their lives to follow Jesus.

Surrender is us taking our hands off our lives, dropping everything in pursuit of God.

‘…With every breath
With all I am
Oh Jesus, I surrender
My heart is Yours
I trust You Lord
Oh Jesus I surrender
With every breath
With all I am
Oh Jesus, I surrender
My heart is Yours
I trust You Lord
Oh Jesus I surrender
Jesus I
To You, Jesus…’

Galatians‬ ‭2:20‬
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

Surrender is not easy. We need to surrender our lives and be crucified with Jesus. To live as Christ, to die as gain.

If we want to live a life for Jesus we need to surrender, which means laying our lives down and giving God control. Jesus surrendered His life to save us, we should be willing to lay our lives down, trusting that He knows best.

Romans‬ ‭12:1‬
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of Godʼs mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”

Surrender begins when we take our eyes off ourselves and look to Jesus!

Surrender is Worship
