How Great Thou Art

Hey guys and welcome back to The Faith Filled Friends. We are so glad you have joined us this evening. As this week comes to a close, I really wanted to looked at what God has done and give Him some praise for all that He has done. Let’s dive into it!

Sunday Sessions

How Great Thou Art- Citiepointe Live

‘…O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed…’

Our God is amazing. And He is always working in our lives, even when we don’t see Him. God has got our whole world in His hands and He cares so much about each of us.

I was thinking back over this week and I was amazed at what God has done. We were singing, “How Great Thou Art” in church and I really noticed God’s work this week.

On Monday we discussed the power in the blood of Jesus. We spoke about how God still loved us and made a way for us to be in a relationship with Him, even though we sin. The reason we know what love is, is because Jesus came and died for us. We can only be grateful for what He has done and He deserves all our praise and thanks.

Romans‬ ‭6:23‬
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Josh shared the fact that Jesus is “The Answer”. It was an amazing message about how God is the answer to all our problems no matter how insignificant or how impossible. How amazing is that? It is crazy truth and I am so grateful that God is on my side to help me overcome all the trials.

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭121:1-2
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”‬

On Wednesday, we focused on how we were first loved by God. Before we were made whole, before we were pure, before we became free from sin.

2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:21‬
“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

Then we discussed how there is no one like our God! No other God can hang the stars in the sky and know them by name. There is no other God that can heal the sick, make the lame walk and give the blind their sight. There is no one like our God! Wow. I can help but praise Him for all that He has done. I stand in awe that someone so powerful would still love me.

Michael W Smith’s, “A Million Lights” was one Thursday and we once again spoke about God’s amazing, unending power. He made the stars, we spoke everything into being, and He died for my sins. For me! The maker of the stars is worthy of our praise. We praise Him for being so wonderful, powerful and loving.

Psalm‬ ‭97:1
“The Lord reigns, let the earth be glad; let the distant shores rejoice.”

We explored Psalm 97 for Scripture Saturday and it was amazing. God is so much me powerful than we often give Him credit for. I can only rejoice and praise Him.

‘…Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!…’

God is amazing. I think the message this week was so clear, our God is so powerful, so loving, so incredible, so kind, so incomprehensible and so gracious. He placed the stars in the sky (wow!), and yet He wants to spend time you and me?! WOW!

I can’t help but stand in awe of God. God really showed me today that we need to actually make time to praise Him. We are so grateful that He is the answer and the only way we can be forgiven, yet we don’t praise Him.

It amazes me because we didn’t plan this week to go like this. No, I really believe that God put these devotions and those words on our hearts and in our minds. He is so worthy to be praised!

How Great Thou Art!

God Bless

  1. ‘How Great Thou Art’ is one of my favourite hymns. God is so much greater than we can fathom.

It just reminded me of Psalm 145:3:

Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.
