A Million Lights

A Million Lights

Hey guys and welcome back to The Faith Filled Friends. Today we have a great new song from Michael W Smith. Now that I look at things, every devotion should move back a day. Michael W. Smith on Throwback Thursday, “No One Like Our God” on Worship Wednesday and “Who Loved You First” on Message Monday. But I feel like this is the order God has given me so… Let’s dive into it!

A Million Lights- Michael W Smith

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭33:6‬
“By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.”

If you know me then you know that I love the stars and the Psalms. There is such a wonder in the night sky. I am blown away every time I look up at the stars. God gave us the stars- but placed them so far out of our reach. He is so much more powerful than we often give Him credit for.

So when I heard this song the other day, I was captivated by the lyrics. Our God is so much bigger than we could ever comprehend.

‘…A million lights
Hanging on the world tonight
I see it reaching down
Dancing on the evening tide…’

‘…A million days
In everyone, I’ve seen Your face
I know I’ll never be alone
Even darkness comes awake
…’

All the heavens shout God’s praises.

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭148:3-6
“Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars. Praise him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies. Let them praise the name of the Lord, for at his command they were created, and he established them for ever and ever— he issued a decree that will never pass away.”‬

‘…For You
All the stars are singing
With You
Every day I’m feeling
Alive…’

All of creation shouts His praises. He is so worthy of all our praise. I stand in awe of His mighty name. I stand in awe when I look at all that He has done. I just want to praise Him.

But then I remember my sin. I remember that because of what I have done and what I will do, I caused my God, the same God who made all the universe, to come down to Earth and suffer the consequences for my sin. He was blameless and perfect in every way. His innocent blood was shed so that I could live.

John‬ ‭3:16‬-17
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

Doesn’t our God deserve to be praised? He is so loving, so kind, so strong, so powerful and so gracious. I don’t deserve life, but Jesus purchased it for me. I will always praise my saviour, my God!

‘…For You
All the stars are singing
And You
I can feel You reaching
For You
All the stars are singing
With You
Every day I’m feeling
Alive…’

I can feel God reaching out to me. Everyday when I fall I know that He is there to pick me up and bandage my wounds. I am not perfect and that is okay. Jesus lived the perfect life so that I wouldn’t have to. I am amazed by all that God has done, and I will always praise Him!

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40:26‬
“Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.”

God you are incredible. I stand speechless when I look at all that you have done. You have shown me such grace and your love is so evident in all creation. Thank you that you never gave up on me. Thank you that you are a God we can trust and praise. I will always pour out my praise to you God.
Amen!

God Bless
