Hey everyone, welcome to another devotion! Tonight, I want to share the title track from Jeremy Camp’s new album called ‘The Answer’. It talks about Jesus being the solution to all our problems, no matter how big or small they are, because He is God and nothing is be too difficult for Him. The music video is very encouraging, so I would encourage you to watch it. When we face trials, pain or suffering we can never find the solution in ourselves. In those times, Jesus is the answer.
Psalm 121 I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore
The beginning of this Psalm has always been an encouragement to me. In the hard times I face, when I know I can’t do things alone, I lift my eyes and see that my help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. A God so amazing and powerful is on my side, it is an amazing truth!
Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze
We all face difficulty in our lives and when we follow Jesus, we will face persecution for our faith, experience loss and other trials, but it is in those times that we must run to Jesus because He is fighting our battles for us.
When we are suffering, we can get to a point where we know there is nothing we can do, we are defeated and broken. In those times when we feel like we are at the end of our strength, our hope must be in God alone because He our Lord and our Savior. When we come to Him in those times, He will renew us and give us strength to carry on.
Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Sometimes I wonder how people who do not know Christ face difficulties. What do they turn to in hard times? Worldly pleasures and other distractions to numb the pain? Nothing in this world had the ability to take away the pain and problems we face.
Life is full of suffering and trials, we live in a world full of sin. It is an enormous comfort to know that we can turn to Jesus in those hard times.
When we call upon His name in the valleys, He will hear us and deliver us.
Psalm 91:15 He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him
In our times of suffering, may we lift our eyes to God, because He is the answer.
