Even If

Even If

Hey guys and welcome back to The Faith Filled Friends. We are so glad that you have joined us today for another devotion. Today we will be looking at an amazing song called, “Even If”. We have discussed it previously but we really needed to do it again. I know that life gets hard, but that is when we need to say, “even if”! Let’s dive into it!

Message Monday

Even If- MercyMe

‘…They say sometimes you win some
Sometimes you lose some
And right now, right now I’m losing bad
I’ve stood on this stage night after night
Reminding the broken it’ll be alright
But right now, oh right now I just can’t…’

Life isn’t easy. You didn’t need us to tell you that because everyone knows that life is hard. There is pain all around us, that is a fact but God can use that pain to grow us and make us stronger.

Last week I bought, “Lifer” MercyMe’s latest album and it is amazing. It was playing on my CD player from Friday morning all the way to Sunday night without stopping or me switching it off. It is a fantastic album but there is one song that stands out above the rest… “Even If”. I have listened to it everyday since I got “Lifer”.

There is so much pain in the world, so much hate and sin. Where is God in the wars, where is God in those dark times and where is God when I am struggling for money? That is just it. There is so much sin in the world. God is holy and can’t be with sin. Sin and God don’t mix.

So why would or how could God make sin? So let’s talk about how God could make sin. God is God and He can do anything. He made everything and therefore is in charge of all possible and impossible things. He made our tiny brains. So why would He make sin? This part answers both questions, because God made choice. Humans chose not God why we were given a choice. Not God means sin and sin kills us plus it causes a separation between God and man.

When man is separate from God that causes us to face pain and suffering. We all face these things in our life and that is because of our decision to walk away from God. I know that I always say, “I would NEVER do what Adam did. I wouldn’t betray God.” But every time I sin, I am choosing to betray God.

‘…I know You’re able and I know You can
Save through the fire with Your mighty hand
But even if You don’t
My hope is You alone
I know the sorrow, and I know the hurt
Would all go away if You’d just say the word
But even if You don’t
My hope is You alone…’

I think the most important lesson we can learn as Christians is ‘Even If’. It is hard to fight the powers of darkness because they are fighting for their lives. We will always face troubles and hardships as followers of Jesus, but the what we all need to learn is to say, ‘…But even if You don’t, my hope is You alone…’

Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.””

If God is for you, who can be against you! Thy will be done. Not ours but Gods. He has plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans for a hope and a future!

Matthew 6:10
“Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

Being able to say, “Thy will be done,” is one of the most important lessons we could learn as Christians. It is in the Lord’s Prayer, which means it is one very important line to remember. Through pain and sorrow, through highs and lows, through joy and sadness or on the hills and in the valleys, we need to be able to sing, “Even if you don’t do what I want. Thy will be done. It is well with my soul!”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26:39
“Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.””

Jesus even prayed for the pain and the suffering to not occur. We all dread the pain of the world. But we need to remember that if it is God’s will, it needs to be our will. Even if it looks too hard.

When life gets hard we need to get hard with it. Planet your roots so that you won’t be shaken. Read your bible, pray, talk to your leaders and listen to Christian music. Don’t compromise your faith when the push comes.

God Bless
