Throwback Thursday: Bite The Dust

Satan, Bite The Dust

Hey guys and welcome back to The Faith Filled Friends. Today is Throwback Thursday, which means we will be looking at an older song. It’s been ages since I last did a Carman song… Just over a year. So today we will be discussing one of my favourites, “Satan, Bite The Dust”. This song came out all the way back in 1993 and it is awesome. So, let’s dive into it!

Throwback Thursday

Satan, Bite The Dust- Carman

Before you continue reading this devotion, we recommend that you listen to the song all the way to the end.

‘…Party’s over, shut it down,
I’m huntin’ for someone y’all
He’s a lyin’ thievin’rattlesnake
and he’s broken every law
He’s terrorized the lives
of men and he’s under arrest
because I’ve been sent
with a warrant from the body of Christ
-Well, tell me what it says then! –
“Satan, bite the dust!”…’

Are you tired of the devil and all the forces in hell trying to break you and the ones you love? I know that I am!

We don’t have to put up with the devil any more. We know this when we read Romans 8 and Ephesians 1.

‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:11‬
“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.”

‭‭Ephesians ‭1:19-20‬
“And his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms.”

‘…You demon of alcoholism,
you’ll be the first to go
There’s deliverance from you
through Jesus Christ, so, hit the road!
You spirit of infirmity,
you ain’t welcome here no more
We lay hands on the sick
and they recover so, out the door!
You demon of false religion,
you’ve preyed on minds so simple
I bind the spirit of your songs,
so el kabong!
Play that in your temple!..’

The same power that rose Jesus from the grave lives in us! It doesn’t just live in our pastors and church leaders, it lives in everyone who believes it and receives it. We have been given the power to take on depression, strife, disease and fear. We can take down alcoholism and addictions, infirmity and all weakness plus false religions and doubts.

No longer do we have to suffer alone. We know that God is always with us. He has equipped us with the weapons and the strength to not only take down the devil, but take Him out!

‘…Now Satan you’re next in line,
I’m gonna hit you where it hurts
‘Cause I’m tired of you in
my family and I’m tired of you in my church
I’m not my own,
I’m bought with a price,
I’m a Holy Ghost filled man
And I’m tollin’ the bell of
your eternal destruction
‘cross the land…’

Are you sick of Satan trying to break the faith of your family and your church? I have had enough and I think it’s time we pick up our greatest weapon and take the devil out. The team here at The Faith Filled Friends have had enough of the plans and schemes of the enemy.

So what is our weapon?

Our weapon comes with the Spirit. We have multiple weapons against the enemy. Let’s start with the defence.

1. Defence (Armour Of God)

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:10-17‬
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devilʼs schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Stand firm then, with the BELT OF TRUTH buckled around your waist, with the BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of PEACE (SHOES OF PEACE).
In addition to all this, take up the SHIELD OF FAITH, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
Take the HELMET OF SALVATION and the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, which is the word of God.”

2. The Bible

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:17‬
Take the helmet of salvation and the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, which is the word of God.”

The bible is one of our greatest weapons. We find strength and assurance in the pages of this incredible book. It is our guide and our promise that God has given us. It is the sword we use to slay the enemy.

3. Prayer

It is no secret that prayer is our secret weapon. It is our direct line to heaven. We can talk to the Creator of The Universe, no hold, no delay and He is always listening.

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:18
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lordʼs people.”

Prayer is a powerful weapon that we have in our arsenal. But now it is time to discuss our two bullets that we can use to take down Satan.

‘…’Cause I represent a
whole new breed of Christian of today
And I’m authorized and
deputized to blow you clean away
I’ve got a weapon with
two bullets that overcome all sin and crud
One bullet is called the word of my testimony,
and the other one’s called The Blood
Satan, bite the dust!
Bite the dust!…’

4. My Testimony

Your testimony is one of the most powerful weapons you have. I know that there is nothing the devil can do to break me and my faith because of my testimony.

I have meet God. I have encountered Him and experienced His love. I was filled with the Holy Spirit back in 2011 on a youth camp. I remember that night as God moved in me. I look to that cross and I know that my story is about Him!

5. The Blood

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9:11-14‬
“But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption. The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!”

What can wash away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus! Jesus came, fully God and fully man. He lived the perfect life that no one else could live and died a horrible, shameful death, so that I wouldn’t have to. There is power in the blood of Jesus. It ‘…overcomes all sin and crud…’! The blood of Jesus has set us free from; depression, strife, disease, fear, addictions and death.

We don’t have to be condemned and beaten by Satan anymore. The power of Jesus fills us. Him blood sets us free and our testimony builds our faith. It’s time we take down the lyin’, thievin’ rattle snake!

Satan… Bite The Dust!

Here is the music video. It is pretty old but still pretty cool.

    • Yeah this is such a classic. I remember my dad and I would play the song every time we got in the car. I knew all the words back to front.

It is actually an amazing message. ‘…Cause I’m tired of you in my family and I’m tired of you in my church…’ is such an epic line. I love it!
