Hey guys and welcome back to The Faith Filled Friends. We are so glad that you are joining us today. We have a new devotion for you today and I know that it will be worth it! Yeah, I went there. But honestly, this is something a lot of people need to hear and we pray that it will impact your life. So, let’s dive in!
You Are Loved- Stars Go Dim
Have you ever looked at something and said, “That’s not good”? Have you ever said that about a movie, a board game, a shirt or even a table? When you say that, do you blame the item for not being good or do you blame the person who made it? Of course you blame the inventor because that designed it so it was them that was the problem… Have you ever looked in the mirror and said, “That’s not good!”?
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my motherʼs womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
God has designed you perfectly and wonderfully. When you are disappointed in or at yourself, you are blaming God for what you see as mistakes. God doesn’t make mistakes, and you are not a mistake!
You are unique. You are beautiful. You are so special. You are the one God loves. You are His child. You are worth more than God, Jesus gave His life for you. And you were made in the image of God.
“Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
God never makes a mistake, and when He made you, He made a work of art. It may be hard to see because of all the bumps and bruises but you are so much more than what the voices tell you. The wounds are where the light shines through. Our “imperfections” are made perfect in and through God. This is something I had to learn as well. If I didn’t truly believe this, I wouldn’t be sharing it.
I went through a time when I didn’t see myself through God’s eyes. I was looking at my sin and my imperfections and didn’t see why God had made me like this. He knew me before time and He made me so intricately, but I believed that He had made mistakes. I looked at these “mistakes” and asked God to take them from me or at least give me an answer. Why was I like this?
After a while I heard the one word… UNIQUE. That was my hope. I kept pushing in and trusting God for more and He really spoke to me and I wrote it out, on my glass splash back by my desk. It was a paragraph from God’s perspective and what He saw. He saw Jesus when He looked at me rather than the sin. And when He looked for mistakes, He only found reasons for love. Because of my “imperfections” I could change someone’s life. Because of my “imperfections” I had a reason to seek love and find it.
God is waiting to tell you how much He loves you, in fact, He already has. Jesus is love.
1 John 3:16
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.”
You and I are loved. We need to find our identity in Jesus and not in the world. The world is always changing and you will never be perfect for them. But God never changes and remains the same. He loves you on Sunday when you worship Him and go to church, and He loves you on Wednesday when you forget to pray and shout at your family and don’t know what love is. He has made you new and He loves you. Don’t let the world change you because it is fleeting, but find your identity in Christ alone.
1 John 3:1
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.”
You are a child of God. Don’t let the world dictate who you are but let love change you. We know what love is because we know Jesus. The world doesn’t know Him so they don’t know what love is. Be the light to them. I know you might feel like you are too young or too old or too shy, but in our weakness His love is made perfect. Don’t try to be something else, be who you were made to be. Flaws and all!
So who are you? Are you made perfect? Are you loved? Are you unique? Are you God’s handiwork? Yes… You are everything that God has called you to be. Find out what God put you on this Earth for and maybe that will help you understand why He made you! Because the world needed a Gad. Because the world needed a Jono. Because the world needed a Josh. Because the world needed a Caitlin. Because the world needed YOU!
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”
God has made you for something great. We all believe it and we will cheer you on.
Just remember that the joy of the Lord is your strength. There is nothing more attractive and wonderful than a smile. The bible says, always be full of joy because God is a God of joy, and joy is beautiful. So smile, because you are loved!
