Hey guys and welcome to Message Monday here on The Faith Filled Friends. Before I get into this devotion, I just want to say how much I enjoyed our youth’s conference. It was one of the most amazing conferences I have ever been on. I learnt so much and I am so refreshed and ready to go. So here we are again, ready to smash out some devotional time with the Creator of the Universe!
1 Peter 2:17
“Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor.”
I was readying through my daily devotion cards when I came across this scripture. God has called us to respect others and love our brothers in Christ. When we are with friends, family or co-workers we need to give them love and respect. In the church we are a body, and if the body can’t work together then it is a waste of time because nothing will get done. But when we spend time with our brothers and sisters in Christ we can start reaching out and changing other people’s live.
And the same goes for God. How can we live a life that God has called us to live, if we don’t communicate? We need to ready God’s word, the Bible and start spending time in worship. When we seek God, He draws near.
During the conference, guest speaker, James Murray told all of us that we need to spend at least 15 minutes in the day with God. 10 minutes must be spend reading the Bible and learning from God’s word, 4 minutes must be spent in prayer. The prayer should not be a prayer to some distant gods, but it should be direct communication to the one true Lord who is in your room and wants to have a relationship with you. Talk to Him as if He was your friend. And let’s not forget that last minute, worship! We love praising God through song and we agree that you should take some time to listen to one worship song or instrumental and just worship God.
So this week, mend that relationship with God. Fifteen minutes is a minimum and not a maximum. Get connected to the church and to Jesus this week and you will see the most amazing things happen.
