Quality Not Quantity
Hey guys and welcome to another Faith Filled Friends devotion. We are super excited to share another message with you and we pray that this encourages you and gives you something to chew on. So let’s get into this devotion.
“But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.”
So what does quality and quantity look like. Well, I heard this great analogy somewhere and it stuck with me. They said it is like using a shotgun or a rifle. Rifles are accurate and will hit the target dead on, whereas shotguns have a spread fire hitting an area rather than a point.
Quantity is a shotgun and we try to get things right by doing loads of different tasks. We make meeting with God a chore and we will pray in the morning and then before bed. Time spent with God is great, right? Then there is the rifle, quality, which is accurate and to the point. We will meet with God in a quiet moment and really connect. The distractions go out and there is a real, tangible connection between you and God.
This needs to run on into our relationships too. This quality time is important between you and your spouse, your kids, your parents, your siblings, your friends and even the people you don’t really know or that you might just meet. Don’t settle for the surface level conversations but instead dive deep and connect, make an effort. God is pleased to see you make in effort in connecting and loving others.
As great as this sounds we actually should want both. Why settle for quality when you can also get quantity? It is all well and good, the have a deep and meaningful time with God or the other people in your life, but if you only make that connection once a week, then there is a problem. Don’t settle for mediocre, but instead aim for the best. Get the quality connection happening but the work on the quantity. Make relationships a priority in your life because they mean the world to God. Jesus literally came to earth to be beaten and kill so that we could have a relationship with Him.
It is beautiful. So let’s ask God for help in this area.
God, we pray that you will be our focus. We pray that when we fix our eyes on you, we will be able you see you in every area of the life. Help us to connect with you through Quality and Quantity. Strengthen our relationships we pray. Let them be built on you, the solid rock. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
