Happy Day

Matthew 28:1-10 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshipped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

I hope you are all having a wonderful day! It’s great to be sharing with you today as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus! Resurrection Sunday is an awesome day because we can celebrate the hope and new life that we have because of Jesus. He came back to life to give us the hope of new life for ourselves, with Him in eternity. May we give Him the glory and praise in all we do today because He lives and He the King. ‘Happy Day’ by Jesus Culture captures the true joy of today because it is a happy day! Jesus has risen and we can be filled with joy because He has defeated death.

The greatest day in history, death is beaten
You have rescued me
Sing it out, Jesus is alive
The empty cross, the empty grave
Life eternal, You have won the day
Shout it all, Jesus is alive
He’s alive

Oh happy day, happy day
You washed my sin away
Oh happy day, happy day
I’ll never be the same
Oh happy day, happy day
You washed my sin away
Oh happy day, happy day
I’ll never be the same
Forever I am changed

When I stand, in that place
Free at last, meeting face to face
I am Yours, Jesus You are mine
Endless joy and perfect peace
Earthly pain finally will cease
Celebrate Jesus is alive
He’s alive

Oh what a glorious day
What a glorious way
That You have saved me
Oh what a glorious day
What a glorious name
Jesus!

“The greatest day in history, death is beaten You have rescued me, sing it out, Jesus is alive, the empty cross, the empty grave, life eternal, You have won the day, shout it all, Jesus is alive, He’s alive…”

When Jesus rose from the dead, He defeated death. It no longer had a hold on him and neither does it have a hold on us! The resurrection of Jesus is truly something to celebrate! We have been saved from our sin and brought into a relationship with God through Jesus’ work on the cross. Can you imagine how the women who went to the tomb on that first Easter Sunday to find it empty would have felt? When they were told by the Angel that Jesus had risen they were afraid, yet filled with joy as it says in the bible, and ran to the other disciples to share the good news. May we be filled with the same amazement and joy today as we rejoice in our risen saviour.

God has won, the grave could not contain Jesus because His plan was to rise again to give us the hope of eternal life, for all those who trust in Him for their salvation. Jesus is alive and we have victory through Him. We can praise God because we have been made alive in Christ. I saw this verse mentioned earlier today and it is such an appropriate verse to share.

1 Peter 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

We do have a living hope because of Jesus’ resurrection and we can rejoice in that. We are called Children of God and adopted as sons and Daughters through faith in Jesus Christ. New life is possible through Jesus because He is risen and has won over sin and death. Let’s give God the glory for all He has done. Today truly is a happy day!

Acts 3:15  You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this.

Heavenly Father, I thank you for your resurrection, a day when we can rejoice in what you have done for us and for the hope and joy that brings. I thank you that death could not contain you, but that you have won and through that, we can also have the hope of eternal life with you. Thank you that you are alive and reigning over us.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter.

God Bless,

Josh Clarke- The Faith Filled Friends.
