Good Friday

Good Friday!!

It’s been a while The Faith Filled Friends, but I’m back for my last devotion!

As I look at the daily verse in my Bible app
Romans 5:8 NLT
“But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners”

This is such a good verse to remind us what this whole weekend is about and how much God loves us.

Almost 2000 years ago today Jesus gave up His life in exchange for ours so that we may be with the Father in heaven. The ultimate ransom!

Now I’m not going to do today’s devotion like a normal one, where we leave encouraged for our own life. Rather I want to do it in praise of what Jesus did for us!
After all that’s what Easter is about ✌🏻

Now we talk a lot about Jesus dying for us, but what was it He actually died for in us?

It all starts way back in the book of Genesis:

We see God created all of creation. Beautiful as ever! With that he also created humanity, Adam and Eve.
God created all of these things as worship to Him. Humans were created to worship God!
However God knew that it wouldn’t be true worship if it wasn’t our choice. So He gave us the ability to choose, knowing the potential consequences that lie with it.

Ultimately it was that ability to choose that brought the downfall of humanity.
It was through Adam’s choice to disobey God and eat of the forbidden fruit that brought darkness into our world and tore apart that divine relationship with our creator.

Whats wrong with a bit of darkness in the world? Why was that such a bad thing?
You see God is divine, and sovereign. That meaning He is everything good, and all good things come from Him. That being said, all darkness and all sin is consumed in His presence.
In fact if you look back in the Old Testament, for the prophets to Enter the tabernacle, which was at that time where the presence of God stayed, they had to completely cleanse themselves through burnt offerings and sacrifices to enter into His presence. And if they had a sinful thought whilst being there, the presence of God would destroy them.

SO… If darkness can’t be near God, and Humanity is doomed to sin, then we can’t be near God or we’d die forever.

That’s where God’s amazing love and grace is revealed to us!!
God could have just left humanity and started over. But he didn’t! He loved us so much that He made a way for us to be together again. That is such an amazing thing on its own.

John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes will not perish but have eternal life”

God sent Jesus to pay the price for all of that
The price of Sin is death. Jesus paid it all, yet he Rose again!!

How amazing is that! Jesus was fully human but fully divine! He took that biggest beating anyone could imagine “beyond human likeness” all for us. So that we don’t need to die, and pay the price for sin

I don’t know about you, but I think that’s just awesome!!

No matter what your history is, what you’ve done, where you’ve come from you can be saved!

Over the next 3 days I really want to challenge you guys!
Have a serious think about all that Jesus has done for you and how different your life could have been
Also, share this story with someone how does not yet know Jesus!!

God Bless
