Hey beauties! I hope you are all going well this week. Today I am very excited to be sharing this scripture which God has placed on my heart this week. Just as a quick mention, this devotion is probably more aimed towards all of the ladies out there, but guys are more than welcome to read along and be inspired by Gods word! I hope you all enjoy.
1 Peter 3:3-4 – 3 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewellery or fine clothes. 4 Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
I love the way in which this scripture is worded. There are so many young girls and women out in this world who do not know how truly beautiful they are. They are so fixed on the standards and ratings which society gives them, the way that they are constantly judged through what they wear and what they don’t wear. Social media has made so much of an impact in this area and it is starting to majorly affect us. Our society to this day sets a standard which is so far beyond achievable, that it starts to make so many people feel down about who they are, and how they appear. It becomes and obsession which can manipulate our mind, that we start to believe that we are truly useless, that we will never be pretty enough, and that we aren’t and won’t be the woman/person we ever have dreamed to be. But as the scripture says so perfectly, beauty comes from within.
We do not have to be classed as ‘beautiful’ according to the way we look outwardly. It is what is on the inside that counts. God has given us the Holy Spirit which lives within us. To me that is the most beautiful thing we could ever have as a part of us. That spirit is planted inside of us, and is what shines outwardly to others as the love of Jesus Christ. We are of so much worth to God and we always need to be reminded of this. God doesn’t see us for the people that we are on the outside, but He truly sees us for what is within us. We are so beautiful in His amazing sight, and we will never be anything else but perfect in Gods eyes. As women, yes of course we are going to care about what we look like and how we dress and do our makeup, but we have to remember that our truest beauty is within. When others come to meet those who know Christ Jesus who is our Lord and Saviour, they will instantly see a beauty like no other, as this is beauty which comes from within. His light will shine from inside us, and will catch people out. They will notice us as being different, and they will sense something which they can’t quite put their finger on. We have to let them know that it is Jesus who gives us beauty which is like no other. His beauty is beyond compare.
Heavenly Father, I thankyou that You can give us a beauty which comes from within us. May we use that light from within to shine out to those who do not know the true beauty of You God. Let Your will be done God, You are in control. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.
God Bless you all,
