Throwback Thursday: The Father’s Love

How Deep The Father’s Love For Us

Throwback Thursday

Hey guys and welcome to Throwback Thursday. Today’s devotion is not going to be very long, but I wanted to discuss the awesome cover by Owl City. “How Deep The Father’s Love For Us,” is a pretty well known song, but this cover is simply beautiful!

How Deep The Father’s Love For Us- Owl City

Here are the lyrics to the song:

“How deep the Father’s love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that left Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom…”

Romans 8:37-39
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

‭‭
God’s love is relentless. It is so abounding and so pure. It is so deep and so full that we could never grasp His love for us.

These great songs are so powerful in reminding us who Jesus truly is! He is the Lord and Saviour, son of man and son of God. We are reminded that God’s love is so full that we can never truly understand it all.

Ephesians 2:4-5
“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.”

God’s love was lavished upon us and we were called children of God. Even when we were dead, Jesus still saw us and chose to take our place. How deep is His love?

And finally we have to end of the big ones!

1 John 3:16
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.”

John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
