Revelation 7:12 “Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honour and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!”
Good evening everyone and welcome to the Sunday sessions devotion! Tonight I have some Planetshakers for you with ‘Praise You Lord’ from their 2013 ‘Endless Praise’ album. I love listening to music from Planetshakers, because of the way they praise God with such joy and passion. They are Australian as well, so it’s great to be able to enjoy some great Aussie worship!
“We are redeemed, set free forgiven, we are the chosen, we are the living, we are redeemed, set free forgiven, so if you love Him, sing, sing…”!
God is worthy of all our praise and not just on Sundays. Sunday might be the day we go to church and worship with our fellow Christians, but it doesn’t mean that our praise and worship have to stop there! In everything we do, we should seek to give God thanks and praise, living our lives in such a way that gives God the glory. We serve an awesome God who is the creator and ruler of all the universe, and also the creator of each of us. God did not want us to remain in sin, even though we chose sin instead of Him. God sent His son Jesus to come and pay the penalty that our sin deserved. We can praise God for giving Himself for us so that we can be free from our sin. Instead of facing condemnation and judgement, we can live in hope of eternal life with the Lord through trusting in what He has done. Through Jesus, we have been redeemed, set free and forgiven. We praise you Lord for all you are and for all that you have done for us!
Psalm 145:3 Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.
Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.
Psalm 104:33 I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
“Oh! Praise You Lord, I’ll praise You Lord, for You are good, You are good, forever we will dance and sing, for You are good, You are good, you are good…”
Can you ever think of a time where you just wanted to jump up and down in praise to God? After I finished my final WACE exam last year, I was singing God’s praises all the way home! It’s moments like these where we can’t seem to praise God enough. Or when you get new pet (whether it be a kitten or puppy)! These joys of life are worth giving God praise for. When we are on top of the mountains, it is easy to thank God and acknowledge Him for the things He has blessed us with. How about the hard times? You might remember the ‘Praise You In This Storm’ devotion I did a little over two weeks ago. This song reminds us to give God praise in the hard times. It’s never an easy thing to do, but we can praise God because we have a hope in heaven that cannot be compared to the sufferings we face on this earth. We can focus our attention on God and what He has done for us in those times of difficulty. God is always good! If you have ever seen the first God’s Not Dead move, Pastor Dave and His missionary friend have a saying; “God is good all the time and all the time God is good”. Even though life may not always be smooth, He is always there with us, working all things for our good. We can sing God’s praises for His goodness to us!
Psalm 136:1 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.
Psalm 135:3 Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant.
We come to you Lord and give you praise for all you are and for your great love for us. May we give you praise you all the time and not just during worship time at church. May our lives be an offering of praise to you in everything we do. May we give you the praise and honour because we have been redeemed and set free from our sin, through your mercy and grace. Thank you for your goodness and faithfulness to us Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
