1 Thessalonians 5:11- Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
Happy New Year’s Eve everyone! Another year has come and is about to go! Tonight I have a great song from Sidewalk Prophets, “The Words I would Say”. It’s all about what you would say to someone if you had the chance to speak to them and offer them some encouragement. I think this song relates really well to New Years as it’s an encouragement to us all as we look forward to 2017. I hope you enjoy the song!
What would you say to someone if you were given the opportunity to sit down with them and encourage them in the current situation they were in? Whether good or bad, if they are feeling like they’re at a top of a hill or in the bottom of a valley, what would you choose to say? Would you take the opportunity to speak about Jesus and how He can fit into the situation?
Ephesians 4:29- Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
“Be strong in the Lord and never give up hope, you’re gonna do great things, I already know, God’s got his hand on you so, don’t live life in fear, forgive and forget, but don’t forget why you’re here, take your time and pray, these are the words I would say…”
With this year drawing to a close, this song can offer some encouragement to us all in relation to our walk with God. It encourages us to remain strong in the Lord and to remember He has his hand on our lives and that He is with us. May we never forget God is always right beside us and that He is guiding our lives according to His will. Let’s live our lives in such a way that they are not for ourselves, but rather to give God glory. Just like the lyrics say, don’t forget why you’re here. Never forget God has an incredible purpose for each and every one of our lives!
Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
I pray the chorus of this song can be our prayer for this coming year. That we can continue to be strong in our faith, that we never give up hope, that we remember God has a plan for our lives, that we don’t forget that God has created us so wonderfully and with a purpose. Finally, that we can continue in prayer, giving our concerns, thanks and lives to God through prayer.
We may get chances in the new year ahead to share the Gospel with those around us, and to offer encouragement to them. May we be able to spur people on in their journey of faith, even if they are hearing about Jesus for the first time. Just like the verse from 1 Thessalonians 5:11 says, “encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing”. Let’s continue to encourage those around us whenever we have the opportunity, through our actions and what we say.
May God Bless you in the New Year,
Josh Clarke- The Faith Filled Friends
