Day 24: To Believe

Hey Treasures! It’s Caitlin, and I am so excited that it is Christmas Eve! This count up to Christmas has gone by really quickly, and I do hope that you have enjoyed the word that God has bought to us to share with you. Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Unfortunately there are so many people around the world who do not celebrate Christmas the way we do. There are people living in third world countries who have nothing, yet we have everything. I really love how this song by Jackie Evancho called To Believe, really highlights the fact that there are too many people not living in peace, but living through corruption. This is a fairly short devotion which I really hope that you enjoy, and that it may bless you.

“Before I lay me down to rest, I ask the Lord one small request, I know I have all I could need, but this prayer is not for me . . . Too many people on this day, don’t have a peaceful place to stay, let all fighting cease that your children may see peace, wipe their tears of sorrow away.” I always pray for those in this world around Christmas who have nothing and who are struggling in their lives. They don’t deserve to go through what is happening in their lives, but one thing that I know is that God has a plan and a purpose for them. No matter how you feel, you are loved and loved so dearly. We celebrate Christmas because of Jesus, and without Him, we wouldn’t have Christmas. God sent His one and only Child Jesus, so we could all be saved. The birth of Jesus is such an amazing event in time, and we have to be so grateful for what it has bought for us, the ultimate gift of life and freedom.

I really love the prayer which has been put in the middle of the song, when I first heard it, I thought it was so beautiful.

“Father, as you see, I’m just a child
And there’s so much to understand
But if Your Grace should surround me
Then I’ll do the best I can
I promise, I’ll do the very best I can.”

1 Timothy 4:12 – Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

In Christ we have been called to make a difference to the world, and there is so much we can do to shine the light of Jesus everywhere we go. I thank you Father for everything You have done! Heavenly Father, I thank you for your love which overflows within us every day. Lord I thank you for sending Your Son Jesus, so that we can be free to this very day. I pray that those out there in the world living in poverty will see the light shine through in others Father, and that they will know that there is love to be seen and that they have a purpose through everything they do. Father I pray that all my friends and their families will have a happy Christmas and a blessed year ahead. In your name I pray, Amen.

God Bless you all and have a very Merry Christmas,
Caitlin Malcolm, The Faith Filled Friends

    • You too Caitlin! I pray you and your family have a wonderful Christmas 🙂 I can’t wait for 2017 either! We are so blessed to have everything and the freedom from sin through Christ. May we be a light to those who need it most this Christmas.
