Day 17: We Have A Saviour

Luke 2:11- Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.

Hey everyone! Welcome to scripture Saturday, which will be a little more song focused today but will of course include some Christmas related scriptures. Today Hillsong features with the song ‘We Have A Saviour’ from their 2012 Christmas album. Christmas is coming fast and I’m sure you would agree! It was just yesterday that I was thinking Christmas was two weeks away, then I was reminded by my calendar that it’s only ten days away as of Thursday… now today it’s only eight days away. Wow! But amongst all the excitement, let’s not stray from the true reason behind Christmas. I pray we can all be reminded of the amazing message of Christmas this year. I really love this song as it speaks about the truth of Christmas. God has come to earth as our Saviour! I hope you enjoy.

“A child has been given, the King of our freedom, sing for the light has come, this is Christmas…”

God gave His one and only son for us. Jesus became one of us to purchase our freedom on the cross. He payed the punishment we truly deserved to take. When we celebrate Christmas, we remember the beginning of God’s amazing plan to save us. When Jesus was born, light pierced through the darkness. We were once in the dark because of our sin, but Jesus is the light of the world! Through His death of the cross, our sins are forgiven in full and we are no longer living in the darkness, but are in the light of Christ! This Christmas, let’s celebrate Jesus, The Light of the World who brought us out of the darkness!

Isaiah 9:6- “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace”.

John 8:12- “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life”.

“Jesus, Emmanuel here with us, tell all the world, we have a Saviour, we have a Savior, we are no longer lost, ’cause He has come down for us, we have a Saviour, we have a Savior…”

God is with us right now. He came to be with us on that very first Christmas by humbling Himself to become human. It is amazing news because Jesus came to deal with our sin. He didn’t wait until we were no longer sinners, but rather He came while we were still sinners. In the midst of our rebellion against Him, Jesus came to pay the penalty we should have payed. The whole world needs to know about Jesus who came to be among us on the first Christmas and ultimately die for our sins. May we share the message this Christmas that Jesus, Our Saviour has come to save us and free us from the chains of sin! Once we were lost in the darkness of sin, but Jesus has found us as we are and brought us back to Himself. Jesus is THE Saviour, the only way to Heaven. We cannot do anything to earn our salvation, but its only through what Jesus has done that we can be saved.

Matthew 1:23- “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

Matthew 1:21″She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins”.

Thank you Lord for the hope you give us through Jesus, who is our Saviour. I thank you for what you did for us on the cross so that we can come out of the darkness of our sin and live in your light. We praise you for the freedom you give and for the love you have for us. May we be reminded of the amazing message of you coming to earth to save us that first Christmas. Thank you Lord, Amen.

Because it’s almost Christmas and because it’s Scripture Saturday, I have a surprise for you! It’s ‘Little Drummer Boy’ by For King and Country. I was doing some digging around and I came across this song and I enjoyed it so much I couldn’t wait until next time to share it. I really love For King and Country as well!

Have a wonderful Christmas and God Bless!
