Day 5: Monday Motivation

What’s up Squad!!I recently preached this message for a youth program at my church, and I really felt like I should share it for the Monday Motivation
You know Daniel chapter 6 in the bible tells the story of a man called, Daniel.

Here’s a quick run down
He was the crazy guy who was just good at everything.

Whatever job you would give Him, he would be the one to do it the best!

He was so good at everything he did the King wanted to put him in charge of the entire Empire

That’s huge!

When the other people that worked with him heard about this promotion they weren’t happy at all

In fact they got super jealous about it.

The began looking for mistakes, something to have a go at him for.
But they couldn’t find anything, because Daniel was just that good!!

It says

“He was always faithful, always responsible and completely trustworthy”

And the workers began to get REALLY angry about this.

So they went to the King with a deal. I imagine it went something like this:
“Yo! King! Your highness Sir!

Let’s make a deal, for the next 30 days, nobody is allowed to worship anyone but you your majesty. Whoever doesn’t agree to this, will be thrown in the den of lions.”
I don’t know about you but that’s a bit of a heavy punishment for not listening to the rules.

Maybe we need more on that for our justice system.
Anyways! So the King agreed and signed the papers for it to be Law.

When Daniel heard about this He immediately ran to his house.

Knelt on his knees, white his windows open and began praying to God.
– I don’t know about you but when you’re specifically told not to pray, it’s probably not the best idea to, you know, go and pray!! With your windows open for everyone to hear!!

– But what I love about this is that when Daniel heard trouble is coming, He went and prayed.

– When difficult times come, and they will come, do what Daniel does and just go straight to praying.

– It’s no use stressing out, worrying, or even picking a fight, because that doesn’t get anything changed

– When things start going wrong go and pray!! Nothing else.

– When we pray it’s just like talking to someone.

– You’re talking to God

– How good is it to rather than worrying, Go talk to the one that can sort it out!

– Talk to the creator, The King of Kings, The one who can take care of it for you!

– ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭7:14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

– “Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.”

– When you just ask, God restores, and He Gives

– Come on someone
BUT. When the officials came by they saw Daniel Praying, took Him to the King and at the end of the day Daniel was thrown into the den of Lions…

Who knows the God we serve doesn’t work like that, He just leave us in our lion dens to die.

The next morning the King hurried to the den. Ordered it to be opened

And there they found Daniel, all in one piece, chilling with the lions.

In the night when He was locked up, God sent an angel to shut the mouths of the lions so they would not hurt him, but show that God is the one who should be worshipped
“Then King Darius sent this message to the people of every race and nation and language throughout the world:

“Peace and prosperity to you!

“I decree that everyone throughout my kingdom should tremble with fear before the God of Daniel. (Our God)

For he is the living God,

and he will endure forever.

His kingdom will never be destroyed,

and his rule will never end.

He rescues and saves his people;

he performs miraculous signs and wonders in the heavens and on earth.

He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.””

– God will never let you get hurt!

– I think once we understand this, there’s a sense of invincibility we gain.

– God will never let us get hurt or have to face something we can’t overcome.

– Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you not to harm you”

– Maybe sometimes for us to get through something however the only way we can, we Have to ask God for help.

– If it wasn’t that way, we wouldn’t need Jesus.

– And who knows we definitely need JESUS!!
We all go through some stuff every now and then.

I know I do.

Daniel definitely went through some stuff.

But why is that?

– why can’t God just keep us protected the whole way through?
I think it’s because when we do go through some things that stretch us a bit, stress us out a bit,

We grow as people.

We learn new things and most importantly we have to grow closer to God

– Instead of looking at that stuff as a problem, look at it something to learn from, something you can teach to someone else when they need to hear it.

One final thought.

But you guys have to be ready.

I can’t share this unless you guys are pumped.

This is powerful
This is Huge.

This could change the world.

This can win wars
Are you ready?

“No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours

through Christ, who loved us.”

You’re being bullied at school?

– No, Despite all these things!
Your parents are constantly fighting?

– No, despite all these things!
You started looking at some stuff you shouldn’t?

– No, despite all these things!
Your friends are starting to do some stuff you know they shouldn’t

– No, despite all these things!

– I love how Daniel went straight to God

– How knew, the only way he’s gonna get outta the trouble, is through Christ!!

  1. I love this message Jono! Great work man! What Daniel went through should encourage us to always go to God first, no matter what we are facing. Daniel faced possible death, yet God was his first resort. Just like you said, prayer is one of the best things we can do! God has the answers when we don’t! God Bless!
