Hey there Faithful followers! It’s Josh here and I’m really looking forward to this devotion! Today, based on the Hawk Nelson song, “Live Like You’re Loved. This is a favourite of mine from the 2015 ‘Diamonds’ album. I often find myself singing along to it. It talks about living our lives like we are loved… because we are! We are loved by God, so much in fact that He sent His one and only son to die in our place. Check out some of Hawk Nelson’s other songs, they are great! I did a devotion on ‘Words’, which is another great Hawk Nelson song from the ‘Made’ album. I pray today’s message is both encouraging and that it blesses you. Let’s get to it!
The world we live in can place a lot of pressure on us to try and live a certain way. We are told we must fit a certain image or category. People who don’t have a relationship with Jesus will feel this pressure most of all. They try and live for things in this world that ultimately have no eternal value and will fade away. But as Christians, we know that there is a far greater purpose in this life, to live for God. We can live our lives with thankfulness and gratitude because Jesus gave His life for us. We are sinners and deserve death, but because of the love of Jesus, He came to take death from us. We can live like we’re loved because we are! There is nothing in this wold that can love us more than Jesus loves us. You might feel as though you are having to work really hard to achieve something- an image or a particular job. Don’t ever forget that the whole purpose of our lives isn’t to live for ourselves, but to live for Jesus, in response to the Gospel. Just like these lyrics say;
“You’re not the only one who feels like this, feelin’ like you lose more than you win, like life is just an endless hill you climb, you try and try, but never arrive…”
“I’m tellin’ you something’, this racing, this running, oh, you’re working way too hard (You’re working way too hard), and this perfection you’re chasing, is just energy wasted, cause he love’s you like you are…”!
We can live LIKE WE’RE LOVED. Jesus doesn’t need us to come to him in perfection. We can’t do that. Rather, He wants us to come in our sinfulness. He wants us to come just as we are and he will make us new and change us, through His Holy Spirit. Don’t try and do anything before you come to Jesus. Only He can change you into who He wants you to be. Our sin prevents us from being perfect, but when we come to Jesus, He will wash us clean of our sins. We will still sin, but when God looks at us on judgement day, He will see Jesus’ perfection and not our sin! When we live for Jesus, we can come just as we are and we can begin to live our lives like we are loved!
John 15:13-“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends”.
John 3:16-“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”.
Matthew 11:28-“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest”.
“So go ahead and live like you’re loved, it’s ok to act like you’ve been set free, his love has made you more than enough, so go ahead and be who he made you to be…”
“And live like you’re loved, live like you’re loved, live like you’re loved, live like you’re loved…”
Our lives are forever changed when we live as Jesus as our Lord and Saviour. We are no longer held captive by our sin and our past. We can live our lives with freedom because of what Jesus has done. As Christians, we want to live in such a way that people will see the difference in our lives. If we seek to live like we’re loved everyday, with the joy and peace inside of us that comes from God, people will see that we aren’t trying to live for ourselves, but for God. We are living lives full of hope and purpose, because of His amazing love for us! We are washed clean and made more than enough because of Christ. Don’t hold back- let’s live like he made us to be, children of God! Because we are loved more than we can imagine!
Galatians 1:4- “Who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father”.
John 10:10-“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full”.
“Live like you’re loved, walk like you’re free, stand like you know, who he made you to be, live like you’re loved, like you believe, His love is all, that you’ll ever need…”
We don’t have to live in shame, live in confidence and freedom because Jesus has set us free because of his amazing LOVE! Every day, we must remind ourselves of how great God’s love is. It’s because of this that we don’t have to face death and condemnation, but rather eternal life and freedom, because of God’s love and grace towards us. Only the love of God satisfies. You can search and search, but knowing God and experiencing His love gives you joy and satisfaction beyond anything this world can offer. The lyrics say it right, God’s love is all that we will ever need. We need be let our lives shine with the love of Christ and the joy that He gives us. When people see us, they will see something is different. May we have opportunities every day to share the love of Jesus, that makes us live like we are loved. God put us under the law of love- to love others just as He loved us, shown through His death on the cross.
John 13:34-35-“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another”.
Psalm 90:14-“Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days”.
I encourage you, live every day like you’re loved so that others will see the difference in you. Love others just as Christ loved us, no matter who they are and what they have done. It won’t always be easy, but as we grow more and more in God, it will become more second nature. Jesus displayed the ultimate act of love, by giving His life for us. May we never forget that. The joy of knowing the love of Christ will urge us to share it with others, so that they will know why we can live like we are loved, like we have been set free! I thank you Lord for you incredible love that sets us free from our sin, it allows us to live lives full of joy and thankfulness because we know we never have to face death. I pray others can come to know your love for them, so that they can also live lives, satisfied with your love, something that cannot come from this world. Thank you for loving us Lord! Amen.
I pray this is an encouraging message for you all. God Bless!
