Hey Faithful Followers, today we have another devotion for you all. I will be kicking off today’s Throwback Thursday with another “HARD LOVE” devotion. This devotion is a real throwback going into the 90’s. I pray it helps you with you walk of faith, no matter where you are.
There are a lot of things in this walk of life that make it hard. Not everything we face is so easy and not everything we do succeeds. And walking with Jesus isn’t sunshine and rainbows either. Today I will be covering the topic of Doubt and how we should face it. Jesus, let your will be done today and let your words be spoken.
HARD LOVE- No Doubt
Good old Petra. Petra wrote “No Doubt” and it was released in the “No Doubt” album back in 1995. It may seem old but I used to only listen to Petra back in years 9 and 10, and they are amazing. Petra means rock, this is a great name choice as God is our rock and they are a rock band.
No Doubt- Petra
Doubt, what is doubt? The crew at The Faith Filled Friends don’t have doubt, do they? My friends at church don’t doubt, they couldn’t could they? Well lets look at what doubt is, ‘There are times when you feel like you can’t go on… There are times when you feel like giving in… And there are times when you feel like you can’t try anymore… There are times of trouble in believing…’ Doubt will occur in a lot of areas, like doubting in your own ability. There are times in life where you feel like everything is falling apart and you can’t go on. You doubt that you will make it through. This may seem harmless but you are doubting God! He holds in all, we need to trust in him and start walking like giants again. Doubting in yourself means you don’t think God is strong enough to help you or to make a difference. Even strong Christians doubt, but they often don’t see it as doubt because they doubt themselves. This also links in with fear and being afraid, because you don’t think God is caring or watching over you.
James 1:6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
Doubting causes us pain, not just God. We are like the waves and we get tossed around and it hurts. Peter walked on water when he put his faith in Jesus, but when doubt crept in he sunk and Jesus saved him. Doubt causes us to sink and drown but we have got to always remember the last part. Jesus will always save us, don’t doubt that!
‘…This test of your faith will last… As long as it takes to pass… Till you have no more doubt you’ll endure… And you faith will emerge true and pure…’ Life is a challenge and that’s what this devotion is covering. Life isn’t sunshine and rainbows but rather a massive test. Your faith will be tested as long as it takes to pass. God will give you all the time you need and He will be walking beside you every step. Don’t give up on God, because He didn’t give up on you!
‘…And there’s a way of learning from the past… That this time of trouble won’t last…’ Sure you will be tested all your life but never doubt in God. He will always come through for you, and your spirit will be lifted and you strength will be restored. Troubles come because the enemy wants to knock you down, but let it strengthen you not weaken you. I am currently sick, the enemy forces are always at work to stop God’s work. They shall not succeed, I will always follow God to the end of my days. The forces in hell will try break your faith and make you doubt, this is like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the fiery furnace. They could have done what the king commanded but in faith they stood up for God and Gods’ commands. The king asked, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up?…” and he later says, “Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?” They never doubted God and if you know the story, you would know that God saves them from the fire. They were willing to face the fire than face God knowing that they did this.
To end I would like to use a quote from the film, “God’s Not Dead 2” which is an amazing film that you should all watch. When the main character refuses to back down she is ask why. Grace replies, “I would rather stand with God and be judged by the world, than stand with the world and be judged by God.” I agree with this fully, because serving God is much better than serving man. Let your will be done. I have been praying this a lot in the past days, it has been put on my heart by God. In these times we need to stand for God and draw the line. Christians can’t just change the rules and allow the sin in the world to occur. Standing for God will get harder in these times, but it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t. Lets stand strong and never doubt Gods plan and His strength.
Life is hard and Love is hard. We need to always ask God for His strength because when we are weak He is strong. Never doubt God even in hard times because they are just a part of life. ‘…There will be winters in the seasons of our soul… With a cold and bitter wind that chills our lives…’ There will be hardships that kick us hard and try to keep us down, but lets never let this happen, because, ‘…our faith can be building a fire… That will warm us till spring time arrives…’ Let faith start a fire in your soul and let it warm you and get you through these winter seasons. If we put our faith in God and never doubt his power we will change the world and get through the hardships.
Thank you Jesus for this day and for our lives. We pray for faith, please help us to never doubt anything. We fix our eyes on Jesus. Jesus we ask for boldness in these hard times and we ask for your Fruits of the Spirit to grow inside of us and the fire of faith to warm us. Doubt has no place in our hearts when you fill us to overflow. Please use these songs and this song to speak to us. Help us to never doubt you. Amen!
